Caring for your Sugam Cloth Pads is easy

DONT DO this with your cloth pad

Never use warm or hot water and never use a brush on your cloth pad. Hot water will cause stains to form. Protein in blood coagulates when it comes in contact with hot water. Room temperature water is completely safe and you will be surprised how clean your used pad will look if you just use room temperature water! Similarly, use of brush will diminish and quality of the cloth and reduce its life.

Before First Use

Soak your new pads overnight, just like you would any pure cotton garment or towel. This makes the cloth soft and more comfortable on your skin. During first few washes, pads will bleed color and it is normal. Add some salt to the water to reduce bleeding of color. After first few washes, it will not bleed any color.

Shrinkage:Also note pure cotton shrinks and hence there will be shrinkage ranging from 10mm to 20mm. We have already accounted for it in our measurements.

Washing your pad

Soak used pad for at least 20 minutes in room-temperature water. This will result in all blood getting dissolved in water. Now change water and add some mild detergent soap. Rinse and change water until you see clear water. Now pull the pad out and wring.

Using Washing Machine

After you have soaked the pad and gotten rid of the blood after rinsing with multiple changes of water, you can wash the pad in washing machine. Set the temperature to cold. If you have a drier which dries 100%, do not use it.

Wring well and then pull it back into shape before hanging on a clothes line. Drying under the sun is ideal. If that is not possible, please dry in an airy space.

Once the washed cloth pad is completely dry, store it at a place where you store your underwear.
